A Real Rest & Listen

Posted: July 29, 2011 in Uncategorized

Do you find yourself busy all the time? Most people don’t have enough hours in the day. We plan a vacation to find time to get away and fill it from daylight until dark with activities. We call it recreation, but we should spell it wreckreation because after keeping up that pace you are a wreck. (Ps 46:10) “Be still and know that I am God.” We need to learn how to rest, draw aside reflect, meditate and allow God to restore us. (Ps 23:2) “He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength.” Find a way to take time and let the Lord lead you into a place of rest, peace and renewal. We need to learn the art of sitting still. Real rest is not occupying your time with activity. Today’s culture cannot just sit in quietness, we have something going all the time, our phone, TV, radio, computer or something to keep us busy. If we are going to be renewed, restored and hear the voice of God we must learn to be still. God is waiting for us to slow down and make him and ourselves a priority. We cannot hear God because we don’t take time to have a real rest and listen.
